Shout-Outs From Our Community Members
"Before coming to Writer’s Block, I was feeling overwhelmed and frustrated because I was applying to job positions that I KNOW I qualified for or even was overqualified for. I was relocating to a different state and the pressure was on for me to secure employment before moving. I came to Writer’s Block because I was sure that Karissa would be able to help me elevate my resume in a way where skills and qualities could be properly communicated to employers."

The Relatable Recruiter
After graduating from Binghamton University in 2014 with a Bachelor's in English, Karissa began her career in Youth Development, where she directed enrichment programs in her hometown, Brooklyn, NY. During her time as Program Director, she noticed gaps in talent, which inspired her to obtain her Master's in Human Resource Management from Stony Brook University in 2017. Since then, she has championed Talent Acquisition, having led recruitment teams and developed strategies to source and hire thousands of candidates at non-profit, private, and start-up organizations.
