Our done-with-you service is a collaborative effort where we work alongside our clients to develop the content and refine your work. You'll still have our guidance and expertise but with more input and involvement from you. Lastly, our do-it-yourself/support service is for those who want to take on the content creation themselves but still want professional guidance and support. We provide resources, tools, and coaching to help you improve your writing skills and effectively develop content that represents your experience. The difference between these services lies in the level of involvement and input from Writer's Block versus the level of responsibility and work allotted to the client.   • How long does a done-for-you service take?
    Done-for-you resumes & cover letters typically require a 14-day turnaround. In some cases, Writer's Block may be able to turn it out faster or may need more time in others. Many factors may delay your order, including your timeliness in responding to communication and edits requested. Overall, Writer's Block prioritizes quality over speed, ensuring that each document is crafted with attention to detail and tailored to the client's needs. We'll communicate in advance if more time is needed.
  • What is covered in a Career Convo?
    During a career consultation session, clients can discuss a range of topics related to their career and professional aspirations. If, after receiving the initial draft, you do not feel satisfied with the results, we encourage you to provide specific feedback so we can make the necessary changes. However, it is essential to note that extensive requested changes may require an extension of the delivery date. We believe in honesty and transparency and will let you know if we feel the feedback is not on par. Our ultimate goal is to create documents that reflect your unique skills and experience and position you for success in your career.
  • What file formats are available for done-for-you documents?
    Clients can choose from Microsoft Word, Apple Pages, or Google Docs for their final documents. It's worth noting that document formatting can appear differently on different computers due to variations in software or screen resolution. Once your order is complete, we'll also render the finished product into a PDF file for reference to provide you with a format that is universally accessible and easy to share.
  • Can Writer's Block update my resume in the future if I am an existing client?
    Yes! If you have used our services before and wish to update your resume, you can book our Return Client service. However, remember that you will always have edit access to the final copies of your resume, so you can make changes yourself at any time. We understand that a well-crafted resume is essential to career success, and we are here to support you every step of the way. With the Return Client service, you can enjoy peace of mind knowing that your resume is up-to-date and professionally written.
  • When is payment due?
    To ensure we can deliver the highest quality service and streamline our operations, please note that payment is required in full at the time of booking or order completion. This policy helps us secure your service slot, allocate the necessary resources, and confirm your commitment. It allows us to manage our schedule effectively and provide a seamless experience.
  • Why does the cost of the Return Client services differ for clients?
    Our OG Writer's Block clients have been with us since we started writing resumes for just pennies. Our clients are important to us, and as we continually improve our offerings and practices, we are mindful to ensure that those who have been with us since our early days can still access our services. Therefore, we have tempered price increases to provide them with the best possible service while also operating sustainably as a business.
  • Do you offer financing or payment plans?
    Yes! We offer Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) options through our partners at Sizzle, Affirm, and PayPal, which are subject to approval. Unfortunately, if you are not approved to use one of our partners, there is no alternative option to finance your purchase or pay on a payment plan.
  • How do i use a Pay-In-Four option for payment?
    We're excited to offer you the convenience of spreading your payments with Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) services through Sezzle, Affirm, and PayPal! To use a Buy Now, Pay Later service, follow the booking instructions as they appear on the page. While services like Apple Pay & Google Pay are quick, they likely will not allow you to use our BNPL partners, so you'll have to follow the manual payment options to access them. Please note that you'll need to provide some basic information, such as your name, email address, and payment details, and our BNPL partners will perform a quick and easy approval process to determine if you're eligible to use the service. Your eligibility is at the sole discretion of our partners, and Writer's Block cannot override decisions. Payments will be rendered to a partner once a BNPL option is selected.
  • Why does Writer's Block target Black & Latinx jobseekers?

All demographic data is confidential and only used internally to improve our services and better serve our clients.   • What are Writer's Block's refund and cancellation policies?
    Writer's Block Resumes LLC says no to other clients and opportunities when you book us for any service. While we understand that things come up, please do your best to honor your appointment. Cancellations made before the start of service will result in a refund minus a 20% cancellation fee on the total price of the service. Cancellations will not be accepted once a service has commenced, which means you will forfeit your entire payment since we have already started prepping for and working on your order. As a one-time courtesy, we're happy to reschedule your service without penalty up to 1 hour before the start of your appointment. Rescheduling after the grace period will incur a $10 reschedule fee, which must be paid prior to securing a new appointment time. Clients may reschedule up to 3 times ($10 fee applies each time), before we drop you as a client. After the third reschedule, your appointment will be considered cancelled, and you will receive a refund, minus 20% of the cost of service. After three reschedules, any future requests to work with Writer's Block LLC will be denied. We offer a 15-minute grace period from the beginning of your appointment if you're running late. We cannot accommodate any further due to the extensive nature of the call, and we must honor our appointments with other clients. If you miss your 15-minute grace period, you will be given the option to either cancel (refund, minus 20%) or reschedule for a $10 fee (standard rescheduling policies apply). Failure to connect with us will be considered a "no-call, no-show," which will automatically incur the 20% cancellation fee— future requests to work with Writer's Block Resumes LLC will be denied. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please get in touch with us through the email address or phone number provided on your booking confirmation.
  • I purchased the wrong instant download. What do I do now?
    I purchased the wrong instant download. What do I do now? Our goal at Writer's Block is to provide customers with the tools and resources they need to succeed in their careers, and we strive to make every purchase as convenient and beneficial as possible. Unfortunately, due to the nature of instant downloads, Writer's Block cannot offer a refund or replace the download you initially wanted. However, as a courtesy, we can upgrade your download to the Hire Ready Bundle if you pay the price difference— this way, you can access the download you want without paying the individual price.
  • I don't live in the United States, can I work with Writer's Block?
    While we welcome inquiries from international clients, we must note that our services are tailored to resume standards, expectations, and spellings that align with the U.S. job market. As such, we do not accommodate international variations in resume formats, and you are responsible for ensuring that our services are suitable for you and align with your region's practices. Alternatively, if you are an expat or seeking employment in the U.S., we are happy to provide our resume services to help you stand out in the job market. Please also be advised that Writer's Block operates on Eastern Standard Time, as we are based in New York. Please note that we will not accommodate different time zones that do not fall within our regular hours of operation. Additionally, since most services are conducted by phone, it is essential to have a direct line for us to connect.

    Occasionally, clients request services that we do not currently offer, career-related or otherwise.   • Can I purchase a service as a gift for someone else?
    Yes, you can purchase a service as a gift for someone else at Writer's Block! Our clients frequently gift coaching and editing services to friends, family, and colleagues. We offer two different options for gifting services: Option 1: Purchase a gift card in any dollar amount that can be redeemed towards any of our services. This option allows the recipient to choose which services to utilize and when to use them. Option 2: Purchase a specific service or package as a gift for the recipient. This option allows the gift giver to choose a specific service or package for the recipient. Both options have pros and cons, and we are happy to help you decide which option is best for your recipient. Keep in mind that gift certificates are non-refundable and cannot be exchanged for cash or used to purchase additional gift certificates. If buying a specific service or package, standard cancellation policies still apply.
